easy post to respond to for points

As you probably took away from class today I’m a John Mayer fan. Not only because he has a ridiculous amount of guitar playing talent but because he has the ability to turn a phrase.  Words are undoubtedly powerful alone but when coupled with music they seem to take on a new identity.  John Mayer’s song “Belief” focuses on the concept and exeucution of what it means to believe from a wide lens.  This type of lyrical approach leaves plenty of room for interpretation, which I enjoy.

Cryptic in nature or straightforward, what are some of your favorite lyrics?

  1. One of my favorite songs is “Good Life” by OneRepublic, mostly because I love the positivity of the song and the lyrics remind me constantly that I am lucky to have the life I do!
As for John Mayer, love his music. One of my favorites is “Say.”

  2. One favorite song of mine is “The Scientist” by Coldplay. The lyrics are a great combination with the music behind them.

    “Nobody said it was easy
It’s such a shame for us to part
    Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said it would be this hard
Oh, take me back to the start.”

  3. One of my favorite songs is “The General” by Dispatch:

So take a shower and shine your shoes you got no time to lose
You are young men you must be living,
Take a shower and shine your shoes you got no time to lose
You are young men you must be living, go now you are forgiven

  4. I love the words of Yellowcard, especially “Soundtrack:”
save me from myself / and be the soundtrack to these stories that I tell

And also, John Mayer has owned my playlist this week thanks to your discussion. SO good.
