Writer’s: Trustworthy va. Authoritative

Whenever I read “Uninvited” by Lysa Turkerst, I find her voice to cut through her writing so vivaciously that it can’t NOT be convincing and true. She is so vulnerable and shares so many insecurities – she always seems to come across as painful authentic but somehow her voice remains powerful without being authoritative and condemning.

To counter that experience there are many times that I’ve come across articles on “The Mighty” or other sites like “Pukermob” where the author of the essay strikes me as authoritative, but as I’m reading their work it doesn’t gain my trust or build my confidence in their knowledge of the topic which they are discussing. I find this to be particularly evident in the articles I’ve read that relate to mental illness/health.
